Our mission statement “Believe, Achieve, Succeed” reflects our understanding and beliefs.

The Trust is committed to improving outcomes for all pupils through providing an appropriate and high quality inclusive education to all members of the Academy community.

The Trust places inclusion at the heart of all its provision and seeks to develop a range of inclusive services to support learners with specific needs to ensure they are given the opportunity to fulfil their potential now and in the future.

The Trust is ambitious for its academies and pupils and believes that with the right support everyone can achieve their best, regardless of their circumstances or background.

At Alt Academy we ensure that all pupils, regardless of their needs, make the best possible progress. 

The four broad ‘areas of need’ are Communication and Interaction, Cognition and Learning, Social, Emotional and Mental Health, and Sensory and Physical Needs.

What is the Local Offer?

The Children and Families Bill came into effect from September 2014. Local Authorities and schools are required to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for the children with Special Educational Needs. This is the ‘Local Offer’. The intention of the Local Offer is to improve choice and transparency for families.

•  A really useful website for information on a range of issues around SEND is on the councils website www.oldham.gov.uk/localoffer

•  Oldham’s parent/carer group is called POINT (Parents of Oldham in Touch). This is an umbrella organisation for all parents and carers of children with SEND. They work with Oldham council, Education, Health and other providers to make sure the services they deliver meet a range of needs for children and families http://pointoldham.co.uk/

• Oldham’s SEND IASS Formerly known as Parent Partnership, Oldham. Special Educational Needs andDisability (SEND) Information Advice and Support (IAS) Service is a FREE confidential, impartial and independent service operated by POINT Services https://www.point-send.co.uk/Pages/Category/oldham-sendiass

• The Family Information Service (FIS) provides free, impartial, up-to-date information to support parents/carers with children and young people aged 0-19 years (up to age 25 with a disability or additional need) and prospective parents www.oldham.gov.uk/fis
